Among the items that Nike will produce will be face shields created under the guidance of healthcare workers at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU).

Companies like Nike need to do our part. Based on needs identified by the teams and health professionals at Oregon Health & Science University, our teammates are working right now about how to best help, including prototyping face shields of OHSU and others.

Netflix To Launch $100 Million Relief Fund

With the self-isolation and quarantine mandate in full effect, one might imagine that streaming services like Netflix are seeing astronomical numbers as far as viewership is concerned.

Now, the internet entertainment service is planning to launch a $100 million relief fund for members of the creative/ entertainment community who are currently out of work due to the spread of coronavirus. As a result of this horrendous pandemic, all television and film production has now been put on hold globally and leaving many crews and casts without jobs.

“This community has supported Netflix through the good times, and we want to help them through these hard times, especially while governments are still figuring out what economic support they will provide.”

Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s chief content officer

Here’s how some of those funds will be allocated:

$15 million of the fund will go to third parties and non-profits providing emergency relief to out-of-work crew and cast in the countries where we have a large production base.

$1 million each will be donated to the SAG-AFTRA Covid-19 Disaster Fund, the Motion Picture and Television Fund and the Actors Fund Emergency Assistance in the US.

$1 million between the AFC and Fondation des Artistes.

This could potentially be a win/win for everyone being that Netflix’s success depends on how well studios perform on both small and large sets.

How To Skate During A Pandemic In ‘Urban Isolation’

With COVID-19 putting everyone’s mental state in the dumps, and the CDC prompting the government to recommend self-isolation and quarantine, the once crowded streets of some of the busiest cities now seem like ghost towns.

As part of their REDirect Project in 2014, The Berrics enlisted Russell Houghten to imagine Los Angeles with no busy traffic or people around in this ‘Urban Isolation’ video entry. There is a shocking and eerie similarity between the video and today’s current climate.
