You heard it right, Michael Jordan’s Air Jordan 12’s have sold for well over $100,000 USD thanks to a friendly relationship that MJ had with Utah Jazz ball boy Preston Truman during the 1997 NBA Finals. Preston acquired the shoes from MJ after the legendary game where he played with the Flu. These red/black 12’s were personally signed by the icon himself and Thursday morning, shattered the record price paid for a pair of game-worn shoes in any sport. According to ESPN, “Truman said the proceeds of the auction won’t go to anything ‘overly exciting,’ besides the usual college education fund for his children and car payments. Although he says selling the shoes was never about the money, he has another revenue stream for the future: a pair of game-used shoes Jordan wore in the 1998 Finals.”

Some of you may remember the movie Space Jam starring Michael Jordan, Bugs Bunny and the rest of the Looney Toons. The movie pitted Michael Jordan and the gang against a bunch of evil aliens in none other than a basketball game with the world at stake. Even though the film featured an all-star cast, it was the Air Jordan VIII ‘Bugs’, with a colorway from 1993 worn by Bugs Bunny that garnered much attention, especially among sneakerheads. Well, have no fear as these retro 8’s will make another appearance for the first time since the 2008 VIII/XV Collezione package. The white-based shoe features Bulls inspired true red, black and flint grey accents, as well as a Hyper Blue jumpman on the fuzzy tongue patch.
These drop on April 20th at 160 USD.
