Levi’s Launches Denim Buyback Service Called “SecondHand”

Levi’s has launched Levi’s SecondHand in the U.S. which is a new buyback program tailored to be more eco-friendly. This new program will allow customers to receive gift cards of equal value for trade-in used pieces. Clothes go into a cleaning process once they’re received and then can be repurposed for sale on the company’s website.

“Repurposing and repairing clothes require minimal additional energy input, no water, and no dyes to make more jeans. Buying a used pair of Levi’s jeans through SecondHand saves approximately 80 percent of the CO2 emissions and 700 grams of waste compared to buying a new pair of Levi’s jeans.”

Chief Marketing Officer of Levi’s Jennifer Sey

Levi’s brought E-commerce tech start-up TROVE in to handle the logistics of the operation as well as the backend. TROVE founder and CEO Andy Ruben expressed excitement for how implementing an infrastructure for second-hand clothing was “the single biggest move” that a supply chain could embody for better sustainability.

Visit Levi’s SecondHand at the company’s website. Prices range from $30 – $150 USD.

With 21 Savage and Metro Boomin’s Savage Mode 2 album still gaining momentum, the Atlanta duo has dropped the music video to “Runnin” featuring Savage’s Grammy award for his track “A Lot.”

With only a few months being passed since 21 Savage’s “A Lot” featuring J. Adult Swim Pulls Episodes of ‘The Boondocks’ and ‘Aqua Teen Hunger Force’

With a two-season, 24-episode order of The Boondocks in the works from HBO Max, Adult Swim has seemingly pulled several episodes of the popular series “due to cultural sensitivities.”Aqua Teen Hunger Force was also a casualty as well with some of its episodes being pulled also.

Adult Swim confirmed the episodes have been removed after Reddit users noticed some episodes were missing from HBO Max’s lineup. According to The Daily Beast, ATHF episode “Shake Like Me” from season six and “The Story of Jimmy Rebel” from The Boondocks‘ third season was removed. The reason for ATHF episode being removed is the title references John Howard Griffin’s 1661 book Black Like Mee in which Shake learns about stereotypes after being bitten by a black man. The Boondocks episode refers to, of course, Uncle Rukus’ relationship with a racist country singer and his bigoted music.

In a statement made to the Daily Beast, an Adult Swim representative stated:

“When Adult Swim transitions series to a new platform, we determine what episodes are selected through creative and cultural filters and our standards and practices policies. Oftentimes these decisions are made in collaboration with the show’s creators.” As such these episodes are “permanently retired due to cultural sensitivities.”
