NASA Discovers Water On The Sunlit Surface Of The Moon

A huge achievement has been made as NASA has discovered water on the sunlit surface of the Moon. Making the observation from the Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA), the groundbreaking discovery has confirmed what the agency has always suspected.

The Clavius Crater, which is one of the largest observable craters on the Moon’s surface, was where the water was discovered. About 12-ounces of water was trapped inside a cubic meter of soil. Per NASA, the Sahara desert has 100 times more water than what SOFIA found.

We had indications that H2O – the familiar water we know – might be present on the sunlit side of the Moon. Now we know it is there. This discovery challenges our understanding of the lunar surface and raises intriguing questions about resources relevant for deep space exploration.

Paul Hertz, NASA director of the Astrophysics Division in the Science Mission Directorate in Washington

Water is a valuable resource, for both scientific purposes and for use by our explorers. If we can use the resources at the Moon, then we can carry less water and more equipment to help enable new scientific discoveries.

Warren Lotas Addresses Nike’s Lawsuit Over Knockoff SB Dunks

The internet was sent into a frenzy after several Nike SB knockoffs were released. The result caused creator of the shoes, Warren Lotas, to be sued by Nike.

Some of the shoes have a striking resemblance to Nike’s “Heineken” and “Stussy” colorways and Jeff Staple even co-signed the “Pigeon” knockoff which was more than likely the final nail in the coffin as it lit social media up. Even though the shoes have a slight alteration to separate them from Nike, you can clearly see where the inspiration for the design comes from.

Nike has enlisted a Los Angeles federal judge order for the halt to Lotas’ manufacturing of the sneakers as well as stoppages to all sales. Along with the order, the suit will address “any and all profits earned as a result of WL’s acts in violation of Nike’s rights.”

Warren Lotas intentionally created the confusion, and he is attempting to capitalize on it, by, among other things, using Nike’s registered Dunk word mark, using Nike’s registered Dunk trade dress, and using a mark that is confusingly similar to Nike’s famous Swoosh design to promote and sell his fakes.

complaint reported by Los Angeles Daily News

Warren Lotas has responded to the suit in his IG post below on Oct. 16.

We are currently investigating the claims made against us and will do what it takes to remedy the situation amicably. I firmly believe my intentions have been misconstrued.

A Hidden Drawing Has Been Discovered Beneath the ‘Mona Lisa’

Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa painting has intrigued many casual art observers and fans alike. The iconic painting continues to fascinate many people with its mysterious “Easter eggs” that are still being discovered today. A scientist by the name of Pascal Cotte recently discovered a sketch beneath da Vinci’s legendary artwork after studying the painting for over 15 years.

“The Louvre invited me because I am the inventor of a new very high-resolution, highly sensitive multispectral camera,”

Pascal Cotte via Artnet News.

After examining roughly 1,650 images of the portrait, Cotte’s findings were published in the Journal of Cultural Heritage in August 2020. The scientist developed a high-tech instrument called the Lumiere Technology camera which detects light reflected on 13 wavelengths. The technique intensifies the abilities of infrared photography, allowing researchers to analyze even the smallest details the painting hides.

Cotte’s device has found underlying charcoal lines in the lighter areas of the painting through a mix of near-infrared photography and infrared reflectography.

“The optical system allows us to see very fine details and the high sensitivity allows a very high amplification of low signal. The spolvero on the forehead and on the hand betrays a complete underdrawing.”

Cotte’s examining also shows charcoal underlines revealing a hairpin that was drawn above the woman’s head. This hairstyle was uncommon in Florence, Italy at the time where da Vinci painted the renowned work which suggests that da Vinci’s original muse could’ve been a portrayal of an “unreal woman, like a goddess,” explained Cotte.

“People had to be dressed in certain ways to denote their profession and for nobility respecting the colors. It is not possible for Mona Lisa to have hair like this, it was impossible of the time in the city of Florence.”
