The opening scene from the The Umbrella Academy Season 2 on Netflix has just been released. In the scene, it’s seems Number Five has found his way back to the ‘60’s as the rest of his family tries to stop another apocalypse.
The siblings come together in 1960’s Dallas, Tx to use their super powers to stop another apocalypse triggered by the U.S. and Russia conflict.
Netflix has just released the first trailer for The Umbrella Academy season 2 and the action and shocking moments seem to have gone up a notch from season 1. In this new season the Hargreeves siblings are stuck in the 60’s while at the same time, trying to stop the end of the world yet again.
Five warned his family (so, so many times) that using his powers to escape from Vanya’s 2019 apocalypse was risky. Well, he was right – the time jump scatters the siblings in time in and around Dallas, Texas. Over a three year period. Starting in 1960. Some, having been stuck in the past for years, have built lives and moved on, certain they’re the only ones who survived. Five is the last to land, smack dab in the middle of a nuclear doomsday, which – spoiler alert! – turns out is a result of the group’s disruption of the timeline (déjà vu, anyone?).
Now the Umbrella Academy must find a way to reunite, figure out what caused doomsday, put a stop to it, and return to the present timeline to stop that other apocalypse. All while being hunted by a trio of ruthless Swedish assassins. But seriously, no pressure or anything.
The Umbrella Academy Season 2 will make its debut on Friday, July 31st on Netflix.
Netflix has just announced a new show entitled Colin In Black & White, coming from filmmaker Ava DuVernay. This series will focus on Colin Kaepernick’s adolescent years from being an adopted black child in a white family.
This project will be directed by Michael Starrbury and Kaepernick will handle the narration duties.
The six-episode series, which was conceived in 2019 and recently completed writing in May, provides an introspective look at Kaepernick’s early life as a Black child growing up with a white adopted family and his journey to become a great quarterback while defining his identity. The limited series reunites Starrbury and DuVernay who last worked together on Netflix’s acclaimed When They See Us, which received 16 Emmy Award Nominations, including a nomination for Outstanding Writing for the duo and was recently honored with a Peabody Award.
Colin Kaepernick spearheaded the much needed conversation about police brutality on black people through his courageous peaceful protest during his time in the NFL. As much as certain media outlets tried vilifying him, many now see how necessary and ahead of his time Colin was, especially with today’s climate.
“With his act of protest, Colin Kaepernick ignited a national conversation about race and justice with far-reaching consequences for football, culture and for him, personally. Colin’s story has much to say about identity, sports and the enduring spirit of protest and resilience. I couldn’t be happier than to tell this story with the team at Netflix.”Ava DuVernay
“Too often we see race and Black stories portrayed through a white lens. We seek to give new perspective to the differing realities that Black people face. We explore the racial conflicts I faced as an adopted Black man in a white community, during my high school years. It’s an honor to bring these stories to life in collaboration with Ava for the world to see.”Colin Kaepernick

Now, the internet entertainment service is planning to launch a $100 million relief fund for members of the creative/ entertainment community who are currently out of work due to the spread of coronavirus. As a result of this horrendous pandemic, all television and film production has now been put on hold globally and leaving many crews and casts without jobs.
“This community has supported Netflix through the good times, and we want to help them through these hard times, especially while governments are still figuring out what economic support they will provide.”Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s chief content officer
Here’s how some of those funds will be allocated:
$15 million of the fund will go to third parties and non-profits providing emergency relief to out-of-work crew and cast in the countries where we have a large production base.
$1 million each will be donated to the SAG-AFTRA Covid-19 Disaster Fund, the Motion Picture and Television Fund and the Actors Fund Emergency Assistance in the US.
$1 million between the AFC and Fondation des Artistes.
This could potentially be a win/win for everyone being that Netflix’s success depends on how well studios perform on both small and large sets.
