Nike And Colin Kaepernick To Release Monochromatic “True to 7” Jersey

Its hard to believe that it has been four years since NFL Star and social justice activist Colin Kaepernick took a knee to protest police brutality against black and brown people. The courage that he displayed on September 11 resulted in the league and owners blackballing him from playing the game that he loves.

This all-black “True to 7” jersey is a follow-up to the 2019 black and white colorway and celebrates the four year anniversary of the former San Francisco QB taking a knee on the sidelines, protesting police brutality and systemic racism.

This “Icon Edition” jersey features Kaepernick’s #7 on the chest and his logo branding on the collar. The jocktag offers a three-part design with the Nike Swoosh, Kaepernick’s signature afro logo and another K logo.

Although it’s clear that Kaepernick is continuing to be ostracized, many companies have begun to open their eyes to his true mission. With Madden 21 finally adding the quarterback in the game and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell admitting to handling the situation all wrong, it’s clear to see why Nike’s ongoing support of Kaepernick has been so crucial.

The Nike Kaepernick “True to 7” jersey will hit the Nike SNKRS app on September 17, retailing for $150 USD.

Neymar Jr. has departed from Nike, ending a 15 year relationship with the iconic sports brand. The Brazilian football star now has his sights on Puma and wearing the KING football cleats.

Neymar Jr. took to Twitter, celebrating the move stating:

“I grew up watching videos of great football legends such as Pelé, Cruyff, Matthäus, Eusébio and Maradona. These were the KINGs of the pitch, the KINGs of my sport. I wish to bring back the legacy that those athletes created on the pitch. They each played in PUMA, and each of them created their magic in The KING. Every time I lace my boots, my KING boots, I will do anything to achieve all of my dreams to honor my name and that of all those great ones who wore the KING before me. This will be my PUMA history. The KING is back!”

Kim Jones Replaces The Late Karl Lagerfeld At Fendi

Kim Jones will soon earn the name of “the hardest working man in fashion” after the recent news of being the late Karl Lagerfeld’s replacement at Fendi. Jones will also remain posted at Dior Men serving dual roles at two of the most iconic fashion houses in the world.

The two fashion brands are both housed in the LVMH stable and Kim Jones will still serve as men’s creative director at Dior as well as artistic director over womenswear, haute couture, and fur at Fendi.

Although well-deserved, Jones’s appointment at Fendi comes with criticism as no nonwhite individual was considered in an already majority white industry. When asked by New York Times fashion director and critic Vanessa Friedman about the consideration of a nonwhite candidate, Berluti CEO and LVMH communications head Antoine Arnault stated that none was considered and the decision was made far in advance.

Despite the road bumps, Kim Jones brings to Fendi a long list of high-end clientele including celebrities and supermodels. Look for his debut at the fall 2021 show in Milan next February.
